Birthday Travels
My birthday was well over a month ago now and I blame school for not being able to write this post quicker (yes I am using school as a scapegoat for my laziness). Anyway I thought I'd tell you about the loveliest most memorable birthday I've had to date and why I loved it so much :)On my birthday this year it was decided I would travel to Denmark to surprise my best friend who'd moved there last Christmas. We had spent our birthdays together every year since we were five as they are really close together and I was not about to break tradition! So my mum and I set off with a huge sweat inducingly heavy cake on our way to the land of Lego (Lego is Danish). The journey was so much fun and it was really nice to have random people wishing me happy birthday in public- i.e they bus driver who gave me a shout out on the bus intercom :) We had coffees and some fast food and before we knew it we were on a plane!! I was planning to have a really relaxing journey however me and my mum spent the duration of the flight worrying about the cake that had been carelessly slung into the over head locker. Luckily it landed on Danish soil in one piece so we carried on forward to find the car that would be taking us to our home for the weekend. When we arrived we set down our things- and the cake finally!!- and made ourselves comfortable for about half an hour until we heard a car pull up in the driveway. We rushed to hide in a bedroom as my bff and some of her friends who were staying the night came throught the front door and had a little tour of the house. We waited, holding our breath trying to imagine her reaction when she opened the door an- "AaAaHhHh!!!!!!" Words cannot describe the look on her face when she finally pieced together that I was in her house, in the flesh. We hugged and I was introduced to her lovely friends and the party began!! We roasted marshmallows which served as a great bonding exercise followed by a brief chubby bunny challenge then it was back inside for chill time and truth or dare (which went on for hours might I add). We didn't get to sleep until about 4 in my case and I just remember the feeling of content overwhelming me, there was no other place I wanted to be at that moment in time. The next morning was an attempt to try and seat our party of three boys and six girls plus the adults and a little sister for breakfast. We set off a little while later to go shopping and I had to say goodbye to the strangers I'd met the night before but felt I'd known for ages. They were the nicest most welcoming people I'd met and needless to say I was mighty jealous of my best friend for having such lovely people in her life.
Shopping. I love shopping. Me my bffl and our mums shopped for hours ended with a coffee date at a posh restaurant. And then it was back home to watch some X-Factor and get some shut eye as the next day would be an early rise to get back home and back to normalcy.
My weekend had been a dream, the best three days I'd had in a long time and I was so grateful to have spent it with my best friend and the new friends I'd made along the way :)
